Father ANTONIO MANSILLA-CASAS
Our Beloved Founder
In 1982, Father Antonia Mansilla Casas, a Jesuit priest from southern Spain, received an inspiration to found a female religious order that would be dedicated to typical Jesuit ministry: leading the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius and offering spiritual accompaniment. This order would be rooted in the devotion to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, and for that reason would be called “Daughters of Merciful Love” (Hijas del Amor Misericordioso- H.A.M.).
Very soon after receiving that inspiration, young women with vocations began to appear in Fr. Mansilla’s apostolate. Thus the community began, at that time comprised of three sisters, in Seville, Spain in 1983.
Five years later, the community moved to Madrid. When Fr. Mansilla passed away on July 30, 2004, there were eleven sisters in the community, including the present superior, María Milagrosa Pérez Caballero.
This new religious group was approved as a Public Association of the Faithful by the Archbishop emeritus of Madrid, Antonio Cardinal Rouco Varela, on November 27, 2007.
Since Father Mansilla’s passing on to Heaven, another 68 sisters from nine countries have joined the community.
